The SLS, the first bespoke model produced by Mercedes performance (AMG). Introduced in 2009 Geneva Motor Show, the use of lightweight chassis and body made from aluminum reflects on the cars outstanding strength due to its new body shell design-named space frame. Delivering peak output of 420kW creating 571hp at 6800rpm and a 0 to 100 km of just 3.8 seconds. Supercar this is and dubbed “The New Legend”. New innovations used to develop and skills put in was one-of-a-kind.
Furthermore the design was inspired by the 1950’s 300SL Gullwing, immediately recognizable the iconic 300SL doors were designed specifically to solve the lack of room of this bespoke space chassis. The SLS, the true spiritual successor of the original 1950’s 300SL.
They don’t make them like this anymore.
Fun fact: Six year after production end (2020), Mercedes sold two more brand new examples of the SLS.
